Brian J.H. Crawford
Associate Counsel
After finishing his Bachelor of Arts degree, Brian was accepted by multiple law schools across Canada but turned down all of the offers to enter a Masters program at the University of Toronto where he focused his studies on the social upheaval that was dominating the late 60’s and early 70’s It was during this time that he found himself at the center of a photograph in the Toronto Star and Time magazine, which used it to depict social unrest (See below).
Ten years later he received his LLB from the University of Calgary and Brian joined the firm in 1981 for articles and has remained here ever since.
Brian has appeared at all levels of the British Columbia Courts. He is a trial lawyer, who also likes the challenge of a good appeal. He has been counsel on cases referenced by the Court of Appeal of BC and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Brian has acted for both plaintiffs and defendants. Whenever he can, he takes a creative approach to the issues and persists when others might fold. He puts in as much effort preparing for mediation as he does for trial.
In a very real sense he is a “lawyer’s lawyer” having fathered 2 more barristers for the BC bar. He enjoys mentoring younger lawyers and working with colleagues on challenging cases.
When Brian is not working he enjoys travelling to parts of Canada where he previously lived to visit old friends.
