John D. Smyth
Associate Counsel
John was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1994 after articling with the Firm. John’s practice is in Personal and Commercial General Liability Insurance Litigation, Complex Catastrophic Injury, Products Liability and Complex Multi Party Litigation.
John has specialized in neurological, brain and spinal injury cases for over 25 years. He also deals with claims of serious psychiatric conditions. He has lectured on issues such as future care and he has sat on a joint committee related to this area. His focus on detailed preparation and advocacy has helped him to resolve countless high risk cases through alternative dispute resolution helping his client to avoid the cost and uncertainty of trial.
When not working, John enjoys hockey, racquet sports, hiking and travel.
